About Us
At Luminations Psychotherapy and Wellness, we specialize in supporting adults through depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions—especially those navigating the unique challenges and strengths of LGBTQIA+ identity. We are a queer-owned and queer-affirming practice based in Chicago, offering individual therapy in a space that is inclusive, relational, and grounded in compassion.
We believe that healing happens not only through insight, but also through connection—to self, to others, and to the body. Our therapists draw from psychodynamic, humanistic/existential, and person-centered frameworks, helping clients explore the roots of emotional pain while building tools for lasting change. We also incorporate integrative approaches, including mindfulness, breath work, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation—especially valuable for clients healing from trauma or chronic stress.
Whether you’re struggling with feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who you are or where you’re going, therapy can be a space to slow down, be seen, and begin to reconnect with yourself. Our work is collaborative, relational, and deeply attuned to the lived experiences that shape your emotional world.
Our Commitments
We are committed to creating a space where LGBTQIA+ clients feel deeply affirmed and understood. Many of our therapists identify as queer and bring lived experience, cultural humility, and political awareness into the therapy room. We offer support with:
Identity exploration and coming out
Gender transition (social, medical, legal)
Relationship diversity (polyamory, kink, chosen family structures)
Navigating systemic oppression, invisibility, and burnout
The emotional impact of marginalization on mental health
Our team is also trained in addressing a wide range of concerns, including:
Depression and persistent low mood
Anxiety, panic, and chronic worry
PTSD and complex trauma
Grief and loss
Relational wounds and attachment issues
Self-esteem and inner criticism
Life transitions, identity shifts, and creative blocks
How We Work
We offer both traditional talk therapy and integrative approaches, always tailored to your needs. Sessions are typically 55 minutes and take place weekly, though frequency and structure can be adjusted to support your goals. Our clinicians include licensed psychologists, social workers, and counselors who are committed to continued growth, clinical excellence, and culturally responsive care.
We believe that therapy should honor your full humanity—not just reduce symptoms. Whether you're seeking deep emotional insight, coping tools, or a place to feel fully seen, we’re here to walk alongside you.
