Dr. Zak Clements (he/they) is a practitioner who focuses on the well-being of LGBTQ+ people. He is currently working toward licensure under Dr. Amy McNew and offers individual psychotherapy for adults and adolescents and couples therapy. Dr. Clements takes an integrative, collaborative approach to therapy that considers both individual experiences and the broader systems that shape our lives. Grounded in a liberatory framework, their approach creates space to process trauma and interpersonal patterns while also acknowledging the impact of systemic harm and centering the individual and collective strengths that people and communities possess. Rather than defining healing in one particular way, Dr. Clements works with clients to explore what healing, liberation, joy, and well-being look like for them.
Their psychotherapeutic approach integrates client-centered, interpersonal process, and emotion-focused therapy. Dr. Clements brings warmth and authenticity into the therapy room, striving to create a space where clients feel supported to be vulnerable. In session, clients can expect to explore how past experiences, relationships, emotions, identities, culture, and broader social contexts affect their present lives while identifying pathways toward desired change. Dr. Clements believes therapy is not only about reducing distress, but also about helping people find greater meaning in their lives.
As a queer, trans masculine person, Dr. Clements brings lived experience into his broader commitment to providing LGBTQ+ affirming care. He enjoys working with clients navigating identity, life transitions, relationships, self-acceptance, trauma, anxiety, and depression. Ultimately, he hopes to help clients draw upon their individual and community strengths, deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships, and live more authentically.
